Objective: To present the case of a patient with a lesion of the posterior pole that is rare to find in clinical practice: macular coloboma associated with intrachoroid cavitation, whose differential diagnosis is made through multimodal imaging.
Clinical case: A 51-year-old healthy woman who came to the clinic for check-up, found a lesion of approximately 6 papillary diameters surrounding the papilla and compromising the macula, yellowish in color that in the optical coherence tomography corresponds to an area of atrophic sensorineural retina and absence of pigmented epithelium, with an hyporeflective image at the level of the underlying choroid, compatible with macular coloboma and intrachoroidal cavitation.
Conclusion: The optical coherence tomography is a key tool in the structural analysis of the retina and choroid, thus allowing us the diagnosis of fundus lesions.
