Dilemas bioéticos en trasplante de córnea: su importancia en México y alrededor del mundo en 2021

Los dilemas bioéticos en trasplante de córnea son un tema muy interesante y digno de analizar debido a que este es el tejido más frecuentemente trasplantado en todo el mundo. Las estadísticas internacionales señalan que de cada 70 pacientes que necesitan una córnea solamente se encuentra uno disponible para trasplante. El primer trasplante de córnea en el mundo se hizo en 1906, es decir que hace poco más de 100 años. En 2018 en Estados Unidos las listas de espera por concepto de etnia racial fueron: 42% blancos, 29% afroamericanos, 19% hispanos y latinos, y 10% asiáticos. La desinformación documentada de manera mundial frente al trasplante de córnea en estudiantes, pacientes y personal permite una visión clara de la necesidad que existe al respecto. El objetivo es reportar los dilemas bioéticos en materia de trasplante de córnea y su importancia en México y alrededor del mundo en 2021. Se documentó que por sí sólo el altruismo y la donación no son suficientes para generar un importante cambio ante la creciente problemática. Se necesita más participación, transparencia y compromiso.
